I find that there are 3 crucially important things that require an individual to become an atheist:

1. Be open to learning
2. Be open minded in general
3. Be fuckin tough, and refrain from wishywashyness and wishful thinking in general.

that's it. enjoy.

I think the key point to your #1 & #2 is that you're not just open to learning, so much as you are willing to critically evaluate your own beliefs. Put that which you hold most dear under extreme scrutiny and see if it makes sense. THAT is the process that tends to result in atheism. It's really damned hard to think critically about any dogma or basic theism. After you've eliminated the self contradictory & patently absurd religions, you're typically left with weak deism, which for all intents & purposes is functional atheism.

Ugh! Yeah, not sure if she is playing a part or not, but a perfect example.
