Go ahead and sqaunder your life waiting to find out what it will be like when you are dead. All proof points to the conclusion that you will simply be dead and gone. We need to live now, because there is absolutely nothing to find out when we are dead. Nobody has ever come back singing and dancing from the other side. Wake up!

If there is no proof that hell does or does not exist, then you're basically admitting that YOU don't know. So in the future, please refrain from making statements that you don't know are true or not.

It cracks me up when people try to proselytize to atheists. They generally show their lack of reasoning skills with their very first comments. But you still have to admit that they are audacious. I don't see atheists going to religious sites and telling them they are all wrong. I don't see atheists threatening to burn other people's holy books.

I agree. This thread (and forum in general) is generating lots of incredulous chuckles on this side of the monitor.

Show me one atheist who has hurt people in the name of atheism and I will name 100 people who have harmed others in the name of religion.

Oh now let's be honest Perthy, we all know that Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin are direct results of atheism. That's the unchallengable argument for god's existence. (chuckles and shakes head)

Of course there is no proof that something doesn't exist! That's the point of something NOT existing! The empirical evidence is not going to be there! Common sense dictates that you should assume something doesn't exist until proven otherwise! YOU have to prove that Hell or Heaven or God DOES exist!

Multiple issues to consider Ebird.
#1.) The claimant must provide the evidence. I can say that after death, all my pets are going to be reanimated and able to fly me around like Santa Claus. Without evidence of that being true or possible, people are correct in disregarding the claims.

#2.) Do you take this body into the afterlife? Of course the Bible says Yes and no as it does on most subjects. 1 Corinthians 15:44 "it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body." So based on Paul's Letter to the Corinthians, it's a spiritual body. Clearly it has no atomic or molecular structure or we'd be able to find and or see it. Also it would just be a body. So what do you suppose is going to burn in Hell? With no atomic structure to heat and cause vibrations, what would be in pain? Without a central nervous system, how do you propose agony? See, even if there is a Hell, there is nothing to fear. Gnashing teeth wouldn't hurt. Fire won't burn flesh. Pain won't translate.

#3.) "Hell is for Satan." It is? 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 "For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness." This passage is meant for the Lawless. It means me and others like me that choose to not follow Jesus or the whole law of Moses as a Jew. But it clearly lays out God's desire and intention to condemn people to Hell. He's going to admittedly lie to me, punish me for it, and I'm immoral?

There is no reason to believe that Hell is real. There is no reason to fear it if it were. And considering the character of a being that would lie to in order to be able to punish people, I must morally reject that being and jump into the Lake of Fire as an act of morality.

There's no proof that unicorns, trolls, elves, trans-dimensional fairies, santa, the easter bunny, a universe made of ice cream or the tooth fairy don't exist either. Maybe when we die we'll find out.
