(CNN) -- One in three women experience sexual or physical violence -- most likely from their intimate partner, according to a report from the World Health Organization......They also warned that the figures from the report are likely underestimated.
This is pretty alarming and sad to hear. I don't really know what to say, very shocking. How do we stop such horrendous atrocity?
How do we stop such horrendous atrocity?
The only way to stop this is to teach our young girls what it truly means to be empowered from the time they are little girls. If they learn not to put up with bullshit men will be forced to rise to the occasion and be real men. We must break the cycle of abuse and this means unfortunately that women themselves will have to dig their way out of broken abusive marriages and relationships and put forth the effort it takes to heal.
Men will need to learn what it means to be in a non-violent relationship with their partners, even if they themselves were brought up in abuse and dysfunction. Men need to recognize when they feel entitled and selfish. These are the seeds of abusive behavior. It starts with recognition and a willingness to break the cycle. The next generation must be taught.
We have to teach them.
