Event Description

***Times for the show are always 5PM PST/8PM EST***

Skepticism. What is it? What does it mean to be a skeptic? What are the tools of the skeptically minded person? How can we apply those tools to religion? to the claims of pseudoscience and the paranormal? How can we apply those tools in our day to day lives to make sure we believe as many true things as possible while believing as few false things as possible?
Tune in to find out!

Our host Greg will tell you how to use rigorous thought processes to help ensure you believe in true propositions. "Inference to the best explanation". Bayes Theorem. And more! All in an easy to understand but comprehensive way.

Want to think more clearly and be able to recognize when others are thinking poorly?

Don't miss it!

i'll be producing one for every show and posting it in the Radio Show group (where the link is posted) so make sure you join the group so you can be notified of important goings on as well as being aware as soon as i post the R&R's for the latest show. also, after i post the R&R's for the show i go back and edit the show's description on the host site BlogTalkRadio to include the URL to the R&R's. you can see what i mean in the image below:

Just finished listening to the podcast. I'm a recent new joiner to Think Atheist and this is the first of the shows that I have listened to. Excellent content and well presented by Greg.  The callers phoning in put some good questions and Greg did a great job responding. Thanks and I look forward to more like this.

By the way, for better control over the playback of the podcast, I clicked the link to listen in a different player, saved the m3u file to my hard drive and then opened it in Windows Media Player. In this way, I was easily able to jump back to listen again to sections, e.g. to note the name of a book or web site.

Thanks again :)

Hi guys. I'm in the UK and didn't listen "live" due to the time difference. Listening to the podcast and finding it interestinng. A lot of useful references and I've looked up some of the things mentioned, such as Michael Shermer's "Why People Believe Weird Things".  It would be a BIG help if you could include a list of these in the show notes here on Think Atheist and on the BlogTalkRadio entry for the show.  Thanks and I look forward to future shows.

"attend" in the electronic sense, partaking via the internet. just follow the links on this page to the show.

this particular episode has already aired but, no worries, you can still listen to it from the archive by streaming it.

I am NEW to this site. Can anyone tell me what is meant by "attend" for the weekly show? I mean, if I say I am attending, does it mean "in person" or that I will partake of discussion via internet?  thanx .gordon
