Dr. Carrier is an historian and philosopher specializing in the intellectual history of ancient Greece and Rome as well as in metaphysical naturalism. His body of writing available on the Secular Web, for which he served as Editor-in-Chief, is well known.

Dr. Carrier has written or contributed to several important works. Not The Impossible Faith demolishes the common apologetics trope that asserts that Christianity's success given its core tenets is explicable only on the theory that it was founded in facts and verified as such by the earliest converts. Sense and Goodness Without God has been called a worldview in a box, and for good reason. It takes a look at all aspects of a comprehensive worldview through the lens of naturalism. Dr. Carrier's contributions to the Robert Price Jeffery Jay Lowder edited The Empty Tomb and to both the John Loftus edited The Christian Delusion and the forthcoming The End of Christianity, are worth the price of admission alone.
