SUMMARY:LIVE DEBATE ONLINE: IS FAITH IN GOD REASONABLE?
DESCRIPTION:At our last meeting (meeting minutes to be posted soon), s
 everal members mentioned an interest in religious debates. I just saw
 this information on an upcoming debate, and I thought I would pass thi
 s along for anyone interested in watching. It looks like this is being
  put on through an Apologetics program:\n“The two debaters will be a
 t Purdue University on February 1, and you caneither watch online. If
 you are in the area, you can attend for free. Ican anticipate that som
 e may be using Twitter (though I do not know whathash tags) to comment
  and banter during the debate. Many of Craig's debatesare on YouTube (
 official site http://www.youtube.com/ReasonableFaithOrg),and people ch
 oose to comment on his forum at ReasonableFaith.org.\nNext: is the eve
 nt's press release.”\n=============================================\
 nFebruary 1-2\nIS FAITH IN GOD REASONABLE?\nWILLIAM LANE CRAIG VS. ALE
 X ROSENBERG\nHey.\nLIVE DEBATE ONLINE\nWest Lafayette, Indiana and onl
 ine\n=============================================\nWhat hath Jerusale
 m to do with Athens? Or what hath faith to do with reason?Drs. William
  Lane Craig and Alex Rosenberg will debate this all importantand perva
 sive question concerning the reasonableness of faith in God. Thenature
  of the question in this debate is no mere academic matter. Thequestio
 n of God is the most important question. One's answer to it willimpact
  nearly all other beliefs one holds from common notions of morality to
 politics and from our interest and investigation of our world to what
 wetake to be our purpose(s) in life. Is \"faith\" foolish? By this, sh
 ould it beunderstood to be blind? Or is it reasonable and, if so, by w
 hat measure andto whom is it foolishness?\nFor many, Mark Twain is rig
 ht on the mark when he said that \"Faith isbelieving something you kno
 w ain't true.\" Yet the great thinkers of Judaismand Christianity like
  Philo, Moses Maimonides, Thomas Aquinas, and JohnCalvin considered fa
 ith to be an extraordinarily important virtue (moraland/or intellectua
 l)! Indeed, it is not only the condition by whichsalvation is appropri
 ated in these Abrahamic faith traditions (which aretaken by insiders t
 o actually be knowledge traditions), but it is the basisfor movements
 from Mother Teresa's compassion and our concern for the poorto Isaac N
 ewton's inspiration in science in light of God's creation of theworld
 and man being made in God's image. Is faith in God reasonable? Oughtwe
  to have faith in God?\nVIEW DEBATE ONLINE LIVE:\nFebruary 1, 2013\nFr
