Event Description

Hello members of Think Atheist! I have a very special announcement to make:

Think Atheist will be hosting its first ever meet-up in Washington DC on October 30, 2010... an hour after Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity! We will be live video streaming the rally for those that cannot make it.

We’re announcing this a month and a half in advance to give interested members a chance to plan ahead if they’d like to attend. Jon Stewart's rally should give you a bit more incentive to show up! ;) If you need even more, Morgan Matthew, the network creator, will be there, and we’re hoping to have at least one guest speaker. The purpose of this meet-up is to get to know each other face-to-face and continue working towards a supportive community.

We would love it if you RSPV ahead of time so we know how many to expect. The number of people interested in attending may determine our location. The Rally to Restore Sanity is scheduled from noon to 3pm (visit the link to receive more information).

I can’t wait to meet all of you! More updates to come!

~CaraColeen

You'll get photos, Jean Marie :) I didn't think to direct anyone to the Huff Post buses; too bad it's too late! :(

I think the turn out for this meet-up will be pretty good!

Join the Rally to Restore Sanity's Facebook Page. There's a link on their page that connects people so they can share rides or offer a place to stay.

A great way to get into D.C. without having to stay in D.C. is the Washington Metro. I imagine the prices for hotels in the area are expensive. I recommend you get a hotel ASAP. And find one near the metro! Take the metro to the L'Enfant Plaza station, and you'll be a block or two away from the National Mall and maybe a block away from where we're meeting up.

I hope this helps! I'll look up hotels in the area and post soon if you guys don't book one first.

I'm hoping to go to the Rally to Restore Sanity, but can't be sure yet. Any suggestions about where to stay in D.C. that is moderately priced? I haven't been there in years. Was at the 20th anniversary of Dr. King's march, was at the People's Bicentennial, and was there to lobby several times, but didn't stay in motels. I used to have a friend in Georgetown, a Congressional aide that I met while lobbying for the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, but I've lost touch with her.

This just in: the Rally to Restore Sanity will be from noon to 3pm on October 30th. We will meet up an hour afterwards at 4pm (to allow traffic jams to loosen up a bit at least) and will hang out until 6pm or later.
