Christopher Hitchens Day

Event Description

Celebrating and remembering the life of Christopher Hitchens on the date of his birth, April 13th.  Let's lift a glass of Johnnie Walker Black, with a splash of Perrier, to the Bard of Atheism. If you smoke, a standard cigarette will do but a fine Cuban Cigar would be a tribute.

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in mid December,
When we lost a fellow member who fought to make gods no more.
But in his books I find no sorrow - only hope for a saner morrow
From his quotes I seek to borrow, borrow to make gods no more.
For a bright and briliant future in which gods are no more -
Banished, at last, forevermore.

In the meantime God really is not great

and this too

Salman Rushdie tweeted on hearing of Hitchens passing that "A great voice falls silent". I can still hear him. I am unable to read his books without hearing his voice speak the words. How lucky I am !!

When you are sipping JW Black you need a few irreverent and witty quotes.

Of course I might be drinking LaPhroaigh, and it might be the 15th., but my intentions are honorable.

I've been hoping that everyone would share the event with their Atheist friends on facebook and G+.  I share it out every few months, but I don't want to spam.

I wish I could think of a way of getting more people here to sign up.  :(
